August 10 in Hyannis
SANDWICH, Mass. (August 2, 2004) – “Battle
Zone At The Tent,” promoted by Tuohy Sports &
Entertainment (TSE), in association with Super Star
Promotions/David’s Gym, returns Tuesday night, August 10 to the
Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis.
Promoter Hank Tuohy, of Sandwich,
formed a partnership with fellow Cape Cod boxing promoter David
Gonsalves, for “Battle Zone At The Tent.”
Three Cape Cod boxers are scheduled to be
featured in “Battle Zone At The Tent” – Falmouth light
heavyweight Jay Pina (12-1, 8 KOs), unbeaten Harwich junior
welterweight Lenny Silva (12-0, 8 KOs), and Centerville super
middleweight heavyweight Mike Kouhmouros in his pro
debut.
“Pros On Pros” live Tuesday night,
Aug. 3 at The Stadium, South Boston
“Battle Zone At The Tent” fighters Mike Bonislawski and Jimmy
LeBlanc are scheduled to appear Tuesday night at The Stadium to be
interviewed live on “Pros On Pros,” 1510 The Zone (WZZN) by
co-hosts Paul Stewart, former NHL referee, and promoter Hank Tuohy.
Other fighters on the card are slated to call in between 7-9 p m.

www.1510thescore.com. The Stadium is located at 232 Old Colony
Avenue in South Boston (617-269-5100). The public is invited to
the remote broadcast.
Pina is matched in the eight-round main
event against Mike Bonislawski (16-17-2) of Quincy. The
veteran Bonislawski is coming off a victory by third-round
disqualification against Dan Sheehan. Mike has been in the ring with
former world champion Steve Collins, current NABF super middleweight
champion Scott “The Sandman” Pemberton, ex-New England
title-holder John “Iceman” Scully (twice), and Julio Cesar
Vasquez.
Silva takes on shifty Ike Ezeji
(7-6-1, 2 KOs), of New York City. He won his last bout by upset via
split decision against 17-8-1 Gerald Gray. Kouhmouros squares-off
against Hiram Richards, also making his pro debut, from
upstate New York.
Former Mass. junior welterweight title
challenger Jimmy “The Dream” LeBlanc (10-6-3, 3 KOs), of
South Boston, faces Shakha Moore (9-8-2, 1 KO), of Norwalk
(CT), in an exciting six-round match.
Three potential stars of the future also
are slated to be on the card in separate four-rounders: super
middleweight Joe “Sugar” Rae (1-0, 1 KO), of South Boston
via Ireland; junior middleweight Angel Vargas, Haverhill via
the Dominican Republic, and super lightweight Castulo Gonzalez,
Wilmington via Guatemala, making their pro debuts. All bouts and
fighters are subject to change.
The official weigh-in for Tuesday
night’s boxing show will be held Monday (6 p m) at Hooters in
downtown Hyannis and is open to the public. A cigar smoker will be
held (9 pm) at Electric Café. Another cigar smoker will be held
Tuesday evening, after the boxing show, at Puff The Magic.
TSE also presents the inaugural FIST
Celebrity Golf Challenge, benefiting Fighters’ Initiative for
Support and Training (F.I.S.T.), August 11 at the Hyannis Golf
Course (MA). One-dollar from each ticket sold to “Battle Zone
At The Tent” will be donated to FIST. The golf tournament will
commence at 1 p.m., followed at 5:30 p.m. by dinner and award
presentations at Outback Steakhouse in Hyannis.
In addition to FIST founder, former world
heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney, other boxers invited to
participate in the FIST Celebrity Golf Challenge include WBA
heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz, “Irish”
Micky Ward and Barnstable’s retired Kippy Diggs. Other
retired athletes slated to golf include Luis Tiant, Bill
Lee and Jim Corsi (Boston Red Sox), Steve Grogan
(New England Patriots), Dan Ross (Cincinnati Bengals), and Kenny
Hodge (Boston Bruins).
