HINGHAM, MASS. -- Former
Boston Red Sox pitchers Bill "Spaceman" Lee and Luis Tiant
return April 23 to Hingham's South Shore Country Club, heading-up the
list of sports celebrities playing in the 8th annual Eamonn Coghlan-Neil
Cusack Marathon Golf Classic.
The event, named in honor of
former world mile record-holder Coghlan and 1974 Boston Marathon
champion Cusack, is held annually to benefit Our Lady's Hospital for
Sick Children in Dublin. The ECNC Classic has donated more than
$220,000 since its 1996 inception.
Coghlan is also
slated to participate in this year's event, along with a stellar list
of sporting luminaries including former Boston Bruins stars Ken Hodge
and Rick Middleton; former Patriots players Babe Parilli, Gino
Cappelletti, Steve Grogan, Pete Brock, Tom Yewcic, and Len St. Jean;
ex-Red Sox manager Joe Morgan, major league pitcher Wilbur Wood, and
pro boxers “Irish” Micky Ward, “Dangerous” Dana Rosenblatt,
and Kippy Diggs.
The ECNC Classic
is sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino, New Balance Athletic Shoe
Company, Honey Dew Donuts, New England Revolution, Coors Light, John
Jameson Irish Whiskies, Kerr Offset, Reed & Barton Silversmiths,
Sheraton Braintree Hotel, and Old Colony Sports, in association with
Aisling Gallery, Toyota of Weymouth, and Powerscourt Golf Club.
The tournament
will commence with a noontime shotgun start, followed by a gala awards
dinner at the club.
The ECNC Classic
