Euro/American
Week at N.E. Soccer School
AMESBURY, Mass. (July 26, 2004) – The
inaugural Euro/American Youth Soccer Week, featuring a visit from
the famed English under 12 Everton Academy (“The Boys in Blue”)
boys team, continues this week at the New England Soccer School,
which celebrated its official grand opening yesterday, in Amesbury.
NESS is a state-of-the-art training center
owned by Ted Dipple, of Andover (MA), that intends to teach the very
technical European style of soccer similar to that taught at Everton
Academy, as well as share the same philosophy that stresses the
importance of developing soccer skills at a very young age (even at
the four and five year level) in order to become elite
players.
The Everton Academy, playing friendly
exhibition matches this week at NESS, is recognized as one of the
premier youth development schools in Europe and highly respected
Tony “Tosh” Farrell coaches the U12 boys. Graduates of
Everton’s program include stars such as Wayne Rooney, David
Unsworth, Tony Hibbert, Francis Jeffers and Michael Ball. Members of
Everton’s U12 team on tour in Boston plan to take full advantage
of several daytime experiences including a visit to the Museum of
Science and a whale-watching trip.
