Everton Youth Academy team plays N.E. clubs
July 25-29 at NESS in Amesbury
AMESBURY, Mass. (June
28, 2004) – The New England Soccer School (NESS) will host the inaugural
Euro/American Youth Soccer Week, July 25-29, featuring the English
under 12 Everton Academy boys team on tour in Boston.
Everton was invited to
play friendly exhibition matches against four of the best youth teams in
New England at NESS in Amesbury. Members of Everton plan to take
full advantage of several daytime tours including a whale watching trip
and a visit to the Museum of Science.
The Everton Youth
Academy is recognized as one of the premier development schools in Europe
and the U12 boys are coached by highly respected Tony “Tosh” Farrell.
Graduates of Everton’s program are stars such as Wayne Rooney, David
Unsworth, Tony Hibbert, Francis Jeffers, Leon Osman and Michael Ball.
“Everton best
demonstrates the very technical European style of soccer taught at their
academy” NESS president Ted Dipple said. “We share the same philosophy
that stresses the importance of developing soccer skills at a very young
age in order to become elite players, without the emphasis on winning, and
injecting a large dose of fun at the same time. We intend to teach this
kind of training, combining the best of American and European methods, at
NESS.”
In addition to the
Everton matches, the week will begin with NESS’ official grand opening
July 25, with celebrity appearances, promotions and giveaways. “Dutch
Touch” soccer camps, coaching education clinics and a child safety
awareness session for coaches and parents will be conducted during the
entire week.
Euro/American Youth
Soccer Week will have a festival-like atmosphere before, during, and after
the games. A detailed program of events will be found posted on the
NESS Website at www.nesoccerschool.net
next week when final arrangements have been made.
